These bowls just came out of the kiln and I'm loving the mix of the matte white glaze dripping down the sides and the solid, metallic gold shimmering at the bottoms. A little bit of everyday elegance. Available here.

Yesterday, I had the chance to spend all day in the studio and it was glorious. However, I had so much glazing to do (all those bisque pieces just piled up on my shelf needed attending to) that I didn't get around to hopping on the wheel. Glazing is always a task for me, and probably my least favorite part of the entire process. I used to just dip and pour glazes and was always really unhappy with the unevenness and unpredictability of it all. A few months ago, I told myself to stop being lazy about it and just start painting on every glaze so that I could control where glazes met and how, and could have multiple bands on colors on the outside of pots in a more controlled manner. Although it takes way longer, the effort always pays off. Patience.

There was also a little surprise for me at the studio: one of my teapots had landed in a glaze kiln and emerged wonderfully burgundy and shimmery gold. It's a fun little guy and I hope he finds a nice home.

Over the last few weeks, I've been working so hard on a commissioned set that I really have not been posting a ton of new work to the shop or this site. It also didn't help that there were kiln issues at the studio, which delayed a bunch of firings. But, three vases came out of the glaze kiln the other day and they're a mix of metallic gold, shiny brown, and wrought iron black with wax resisted triangles and carved patterns.

They're up in the shop now.

Little Bear Pots will be making an appearance at the end of June at the Renegrade Craft Fair in Brooklyn (so excited!) and I expect to see a lot of you all there. But, for now, there's just the process of making tons and tons of good work to show off at the fair. And that means so many mugs and small cups.

These new mugs just came out of the kiln recently, and as always, are up in the shop. I'm loving the play between the two types of stripes--one set carved, the other made with a wax resist that leaves bare clay strips.

There's also two tall lidded jars that came out of the kiln playing on the same mixture of simple patterns and textures, and they're the perfect size to store pasta in.

I guess it's finally spring because I am in the mood for more flower pots. My roommate just turned over our container garden for the season, planting tons of peppers and basil on our stoop. A little more sunlight and maybe it'll all start to grow.

These two guys just came out of the kiln the other day, and there's more mugs and jars that'll get posted in the next few days. But for now, more flower pots that are playing with my new obsession of combining simple carved lines with wax resist lines, and tons of gold glaze. (They're also up in the shop.)

There's been not much work coming out of the kiln recently, as I've been working really hard on a teapot and a set of teacups. But these new planters were at the studio the other day waiting for me. They have my new gold glaze that I adore and I think these are pretty rad. They're available in my shop.
